Because it’s too awesome not to share –

– my vintage Donny and Marie sleeping bag. I got it for a sleepover when I was in the 3rd grade (1978).

Here are comments from friends who have seen it via Facebook –

“Looking for the “shudder” button!”

“That is so Awesome!!!!”

“I can’t help it… every time I see it… I have to click on it….it has some weird… control over me.”

“This is righteous.”

It is my dream to have an opportunity to have it in the presence of Donny, Marie, or dare I hope? Both of them.

I had a babysitter in the 1st grade who would let me stay up to watch the show.  I could try to blame her but I remember having the Puppy Love 45 when I was a kindergartner, living in another state.

A Blog Named Hero has a new challenge up – If I could Turn Back Time.

I went with my Sizzix Dresden Petals Die to create this card.

My Minds Eye Best of Damask, Black paper from stash. Sentiment is from Hero Arts OWH Birthday set in Memento Tuxedo Black on Wausau Fleck cardstock that’s been colored with Distress Inks Tea Dye. Brads from Recollections. Vintage ecru lace.

Vintage fabric can be fun…

Standard

…and oh so surprising.

I was shopping at a favorite thrift, killing time before seeing Cloud Atlas. In the fabric section, I found several different very vintage Waverly fabrics so I was looking at prints carefully to make sure I didn’t miss any of them. I saw what I thought was an interesting but non Waverly print – kinda Boho in color scheme and pattern.

Hold on a sec – those are period Pin-up girls

Freaking awesome! I love to think of some secretary in some boring office somewhere using this fabric to make a very non standard work dress.

Vintage Ernest Sohn Cheese Board

Standard

I listed this in my vintage shop yesterday.

It’s a walnut cheese board by Ernest Sohn. The flower tile is actually enameled copper and is so brilliant color wise. I wish the image was a match to the various dinnerware patterns that I collect because I would keep it.

Also – a learning experience. The signature on the reverse looks like Ernest John but the first letter is actually a stylized S, as I discovered as I found items online that still had their boxes.

Paper Smooches World Card Making Day One Layer Challenge

Standard

In honor of World Card Making Day, the blog at Paper Smooches has several challenges going. One is to make a single layer card using stamping.

Let me clarify – I just started making cards and have no stamping ability. It takes me 5 tries to simply get a simple sentiment evenly stamped, let alone an entire image. I am a hoarder of things however and even though I had no use for them at the time, I’ve had vintage look postage cling stamps for a couple of years. I’m not even sure who made them – I bought them through a destash listing on Etsy.  Here we go –

White cardstock base and cardfront. Vintage stamp – ?, Sentiment from TPC Studio Secret Garden Set, paper antiqued with Ink It Up in Walnut, stamped in Craft Smart Black. Organza ribbon in black.

I antiqued the paper, stamped the sentiment, masked that off and then stamped the whole card. I pulled off the masked bit and then added organza ribbon to the top and bottom.
