The Midweek Throwdown this week at Operation Write Home is Tags ‘n Twine. I love tags. Tag dies were the first things that I bought when I got my original Sizzix. The timing of this throwdown was perfect – I’d just seen a new post on Paper Crafts Connection about a creative way to use pretty pieces of scrap paper.

Moxiefab Creative Card Challenges Week – Card with a Window

Standard

Moxiefabworld was celebrating Paper Crafts 75 Creative Card Challenges Magazine a couple of weeks ago.

Tuesday’s Challenge was #60 – Card with a Window.

My first card for this challenge was kind of a tongue in cheek example – I made a card with a house where a window was visible. I crack myself up.

Anyway, today started off weird – yet another delayed school opening due to weather and my mojo was nowhere to be found. I started clicking through Moxie Fab World and saw that the deadline for the challenges was next week. Decided to try another version of the window challenge.

Wausau Fleck Cardstock. All stamped images are from the Hero Arts OWH Happy Birthday set. Balloon stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, TPC Dark bow is Blue Color Connect Texture, basket is TPC Tan Parchment, Balloon is Pink Paislee Pop Fashion Collection. Clouds stamped in American Crafts Powder Blue, Sentiment is Versamark Black. Hampton Art Clear Embossing Powder. Shapeabilities Circle die.

*I liked my Balloon so much from the #156 Sketch Challenge that I stamped multiples for future use. 🙂

Moxiefab Creative Card Challenges Week – Stamp with a Homemade Stamp

Standard

Moxiefabworld is celebrating Paper Crafts 75 Creative Card Challenges Magazine this week.

Thursday is #18   – Stamp with a Homemade Stamp.

I used the heavy paperboard from some packaging and made a diecut with my ek Tools Long Oval Chain Punch. I inked it up with Memento Tuxedo Black and placed / stamped it on some Wausau Fleck Cardstock. Love sentiment is Autumn Leaves Rhonna Farrer. “All you need is” is from Word in CAC Pinafore. Black Organza ribbon to finish it off. It’s a totally CAS one layer card.

Moxiefab Creative Card Challenges Week – Card with a Window

Moxiefabworld is celebrating Paper Crafts 75 Creative Card Challenges Magazine this week.

Tuesday’s Challenge was #60 – Card with a Window.

Now, they kinda sorta meant a card with an opening in a flat surface, but a window is a window…

To be honest, I totally CASEd my own card for this – I built a similar one for OWH Sketch Challenge 143.

Snowflake paper, yellow for window, grey for siding and black cardstock from stash, Wausau Fleck for snow, sentiment from TPC Studio Winter Blues Set in Memento Tuxedo Black. Snow is made with the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo punch.

I’m going to hold this one for next winter for Operation Write Home.

Moxiefab Creative Card Challenges Week – 10 Embellishments

Standard

Moxiefabworld is celebrating Paper Crafts 75 Creative Card Challenges Magazine this week.

Monday’s challenge was #7 – use ten different embellishments on a card.

As I’m not really an embellishment girl, I struggled. I have loads of buttons, but I make jewelry with them and it hurts when I glue one on a card. I know, I know, but it’s how my hoarding brain works – I feel the button can’t be used again if it gets glued.

Anyway, I started thinking about this stack of Creative Memories Jewel Dimensions sticker sheets that I have. “I bet I could make the rays of the sun with them.”

Here’s my take –

Wausau Fleck Cardstock front, Cloud stamp is Rubber Stamps of America in Distress Inks Faded Jeans, sentiment is Studio G Kolette Hall in Memento Tuxedo Black. Green paper is The Paper Company Ecorce Spring Green, ek Tools Punch. Rays are Creative Memories Jewel Dimensions in Yellow. I have eleven embellishments – 8 individual rays plus 3 cut out clouds.

This makes a perfect card for Operation Write Home.

The midweek throwdown this week on Operation Write Home is in conjunction with Lawn Fawn. The challenge was to create a card with scallops in the design for a hero to send home to a child.

Kite with black cardstock and paper from DCWV Stack III
Embroidery Floss tail
Scallops done with large scallop scissors
Sentiment from computer

Learned how to make the kite and how to manage all the scraps that are leftover from cardmaking in this excellent OPW tutorial –

Card with a natural element

Standard

As I get into this whole cardmaking thing, I see that various sites and blogs post challenges on a frequent basis. I like challenges – give me the start of an idea and I’ll try to run with it.

This card for Operation Write Home satisfies those challenges that ask for a natural element or image.
