Another OSW set featuring The Precious

Standard

A week ago I’d cut several sheets of new paper using the OSW Tutorial on Operation Write Home. A few days ago, I received my first ever roll of “The Precious”, which is in fact 3M Scotch Double-Sided Foam Tape. It allows for dimension on cards without being too thick or bulky.

I decided to add this plus some Baker’s Twine to a new set of cards.

(The one on the bottom right is a card I built for Thursday’s blog so is sort of a before.)

This is a close up of the first card I made with the new supplies.

Wausau Fleck cardstock, Graphic 45 Le Cirque Collection – Extravaganza, Green from Core-dinations pack. Sentiment is Studio G in Memento Cottage Ivy & Tuxedo Black. Pick Your Plum Bakers Twine, 3M foam tape.

Another OSW card set Part 2

Standard

So, I’m totally digging these One Sheet Wonder Cards on Operation Write Home.

Today’s cards are from a set I did using two different 7 Gypsies single side sheets of paper. I backed eight with light blue and eight with a rich red. These are the red ones – I posted the blues yesterday.

Here’s a single card close up –

Wausau Fleck cardstock. Blue and Red from Core-dinations. 7 Gypsies Touquette & Sand. Sentiment is Studio G in Memento Tuxedo Black.

OWH One Sheet Wonder Cards using Template Take 2

Standard

Operation Write Home put up a new tutorial, showing info on One Sheet Wonder cards. They included a template on how to cut a 12 x 12 sheet of paper (created by Seongsook Duncan) so that you have the bits and pieces to make 8 cards.

I decided my second group would be made from the 7 Gypsies Victoria Fernwood I just got.

I went digging for the solid colors I would  use for layering and found a lovely rose and a bright sagey green – four pieces of each. These were both 4.5 x 6.5 sheets. I cut my base layer in all the colors (4 x 5.25) and got gungho, adhering the colors to my flecked cardfront. I got done with six of them and realized I’d skipped an important step – I’d forgotten to cut out the sentiment layer from the solid bases. No problem – I’ll grab a couple more sheets of each and cut them out separately. Were there any more sheets of either color? Of course not… I cut the sentiment shape from the remaining two and decided to just start assembling what I had and leave the sentiment issue for later.

In the end, I went back to the banners can save the world route and put a thinking of you on strips of white. That worked for three cards. Then I used a remaining strip of green and cut a tiny scalloped oval for a tiny missing you and realized the proportion was off. That left me with two sentimentless cards. I looked at my colored scraps and had a voila moment – I took two wide strips of the rose and two of the green, adhered them side by side on a piece of cardstock and cut a larger oval from each color. Not perfect, but not terrible. This was a learning experience. I will not forget that step again.

Wausau Fleck cardstock. Rose is from DCWV Jewel Matstack, Green is Paper Garden Cropping Block Greens. DP is 7 Gypsies Victoria Fernwood. Sentiment is Studio G in Memento Tuxedo Black. Shapeabilities Scalloped & Oval dies.

OWH One Sheet Wonder Cards using Template

Standard

Operation Write Home put up a new tutorial, showing info on One Sheet Wonder cards. They included a template on how to cut a 12 x 12 sheet of paper (created by Seongsook Duncan) so that you have the bits and pieces to make 8 cards.

I decided my first set would use a sheet of the 7 Gypsies Mykonos Collection Delos paper that I found yesterday for a steal.

I love how easy it was to cut and create 8 cards. I cut the colored sentiment layer from the colored base and the white sentiment bit from the card front (I always adhere completed cards to a white cardbase.)

Wausau Fleck cardstock. Red is Darice Core-dinations Parisian Nights, Green is Bazzill Pear. DP is 7 Gypsies Mykonos Delos. Sentiment is Studio G in Memento Tuxedo Black. Shapeabilities Scalloped & Circle dies.

*Oh, that card that’s second from left, top row? I put the DP on crooked and when I peeled it up, I ripped the base layer. I added a strip + Oval Chain diecut to make it pretty.

**The colored bases came from 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper. Each sheet gives you 4 bases and the leftover strips are what you use over joints. I forgot to do contrasting strips – that’ll be the next batch.

Operation Write Home put up a new tutorial, showing info on One Sheet Wonder cards. They also included tips on how to use 12 x 12 papers.

I decided to cut one sheet into 4″ squares so will have 9 cards out of my one sheet.

Today’s card used a red layer – I have 4 of these. (Yesterday’s card had a blue layer – there are 5 of those.)

Wausau Fleck cardstock. Red from stash. DP is from DCWV Summer Stack. Pick Your Plum twine. Sentiment is TPC Studio Whimsy Greetings in Memento Tuxedo Black. Shapeabilities Scalloped Squares dies.

Today’s card used a blue layer – I’ll have 5 of these.  This is the only one with this sentiment style though – I realized the diecut for the white was too small. I’ll have a red version tomorrow with the corrected sentiment layers.
