The Midweek Throwdown this week at Operation Write Home is to make card using Hexagons.
Yesterday’s card was a geometric failure as I was all, “Oooh, I’m measuring and marking and cutting and… whoops, that’s an octagon.”
I discovered that if you have a circle and measure the radius, the size of that is how you mark the edges. The radius fits 6 times around the edges. Then you cut the edges and VOILA, a hexagon has magically appeared. I’m sure the previous makes no sense. In cases like this, Uncle Google is your friend. How to draw a hexagon.
*edited to add this to the Moxie Fab World Happy for Hexagons Challenge because I did geometry and stuff.

Moxie Fab World has a new challenge up today to celebrate Card Creations Vol II – Speech Bubble. Yesterday’s challenge was Emphasizing the negative.
My card is like the perfect storm of challenges –
I’ve had that Love die for a few months. It’s a Tim Holtz for Sizzix Magnetic die and to use it, you have to have the metal base. I just got mine yesterday. I knew the die would be the perfect one for the Negative challenge but when I saw that today’s was for Speech Bubbles, I knew they’d be a perfect meld.
I diecut the Love, then used a larger oval to cut around it so it was like a separate embellishment. I used a larger Oval die for the cardfront, used my exacto knife to add the bubble tail, adhered my DP to the back, adhered the cardfront to a base and then adhered the Love in the center of the DP. So simple a look but very groovy.
Wausau Fleck cardstock. DP is unknown. Love is Movers and Shapers. Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small.
This is a perfect card for Operation Write Home. Easy to make (now that the layout is in my brain) and a sentiment that is always in need. I’m adding this to the Focal Point Bootcamp page as it’s the epitome of a focal point to me.
Moxie Fab World has a new challenge up today to celebrate Card Creations Vol II – Emphasizing the negative. Shopping Our Stash has their new challenge up as well – #92 Border Punches.
My card has examples of each –
I stamped Hello on the card base and layered a black strip with window over it.
I also used the ek Tools Lines N Dots Edger Punch. I stitched in rainbow ordered embroidery floss.
My initial idea had been to have the card vertical with the stitching on the right hand side. As I started thinking of how to make it, I ended up doing it horizontally which is why the stitching is VIBGYOR, instead of ROYGBIV. Still, a totally fun card.

**UPDATE** Wahoo – I made top 3 at Shopping Our Stash with this card!
Moxie Fab World’s latest Tuesday Trigger is Set the table.
When I first saw this, I thought “Oh, that’s lovely but I have no idea how to treat it since it’s patternless and neutral.
I was looking at it again this morning aand went “Duh, it’s a sketch – just turn it sideways.”
Here’s my version –
It’s still very neutral with a geometric feel.
Background paper is TPC Tan Parchment. Solid papers are from Me & My Big Ideas Family Pad. Sentiment is Studio 112 in Memento Rich Cocoa. brads from Recollections. Spellbinders circle dies.
