The Design Bootcamp this month at Operation Write Home is all about Texture.
Here’s my submission. It’s tied into my “Make lots of Miss You cards” challenge.
I have visual texture with the Ribbon and the red woodgrain paper. I have tactile texture with the embossed paper, ribbon, layer under the sentiment, popped sentiment and layers.
Core-dinations Black, Xerox Flecs Cover, Studio Calico Most Likely, TPC Corduroy Black, No ID ribbon. Studio G in Memento Tuxedo Black, The Precious.
October’s Design Bootcamp at Operation Write Home is all about Balance in Design.
My card design is Asymetrical. It also has repetition, variation, strong focal point, major, minor and accent color.
Xerox Flecs Cover, Studio Calico Most Likely, TPC Studio Hugs and Kisses in Memento Tuxedo Black. Large heart is Sizzlit, small hearts and brads are Recollections.
Today’s card is clean and simple.
It also qualifies as a submission to the September Design Bootcamp on Operation Write Home – White Space as a Design Element.
Xerox Flecs Cover. Silhouette Thank You. Distress Inks Barn Door, Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans, Dusty Concord.
This card is a combination effort – it’s the Operation Write Home sketch #181 with July’s Design Bootcamp – Major Minor Accent Color.
In this case, I’m thinking of the black DP as 60, the parchment sentiment as my 30 and the tan background as my 10. (Or maybe those last two need to be switched around…)
DP is front and back of 7 Gypsies Gypsie Market Dulwich, TPC Tan Parchment. Sentiment is Studio 112 in Memento Tuxedo Black. Distress Inks Black Soot. Recollections Brads.
The new Design Bootcamp is up at Operation Write Home – this month it’s all about Repetition.
Here’s my submission –
My repetitions include the dots in the papers with the round brads, the flecked cardstock base & sentiment layers plus the grey dotted papers that I used for layering. The variations include the middle layer – I placed the pattern vertically.
Xerox Flecs Cover, DP is front and back of 7 Gypsies Victoria Paper Rosewood. Recollections brads. Sentiment is Studio G in Memento Tuxedo Black.
The March Design Bootcamp is up at OWH – The Rule of Thirds.
This was the first design that came to mind –
The black runs against one gridline and the banners run against the perpendicular lines.
Wausau Fleck cardstock, Making Memories Boho Chic Olivia DPs, sentiment from Doodlebug in Memento Paris Dusk.
This is another color theory card, brought to you by the Design Bootcamp at Operation Write Home.
This one has the same pattern papers as my first card.
I switched things up by using an aqua paper for layering. Still Nature or Analogous harmony though.
Wausau Fleck cardstock for base and sentiment. Patterned papers are My Minds Eye Best of Damask. Aqua is unknown. Sentiment is from Word (Bradley Hand ITC 36pt Bold). Two shades of Embroidery Floss.
Operation Write Home is starting something new today – Design Bootcamp. Today’s info is all about basic color theory. Color schemes that work well together are called Color Harmonies – like Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary and From Nature.
This is the first card I made.
At first, I thought because the colors were greens and blues that it had to be From Nature but then I realized that it’s Analogous as well as the colors would be next to each other on the color wheel.
Green paper is Bazzill Pear, patterned papers are My Minds Eye Best of Damask. Sentiment is from Word (Bradley Hand ITC 36pt Bold) as I only have two Thank You stamps and neither would have worked with this card, which has sort of a formal vibe to me. Sentiment is printed on Wausau Fleck Cardstock and colored with Distress Inks Peeled Paint.
