OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP

Standard

Oh my goodness, how quickly time flies – it was a year ago that I began making cards for Operation Write Home. I started with their Labor Day Weekend Virtual Card Making Party and it’s that time of year again.

The first challenge was hosted by Nancy Keller at Scrap HappensChristmas or Winter with a sketch.

Here’s my version –

To be honest, I cheated a bit. My DP is from a vintage DCWV Christmas pack. I saw the sketch and knew I’d have to use this pattern. Xerox Flecs and sentiment by Hero Arts (CL359) in Memento Tuxedo Black.

Washi Chevron in blue and green

Standard

Today’s card was made with more Washi, plus a layered thanks.

It ties in well to this month’s Design Bootcamp at Operation Write HomeVariation.

The Variation comes in the shape – the angles of the chevron in the washi, and the round from the sentiment. The design has a strong focal point and the colors are analogous. It also follows the rule of thirds as the Washi runs along one gridline and the circle intersects along another.

I made another 5 of these, keeping them basically identical. OWH can always  use Thank You cards.

Wausau Fleck cardstock, Pick Your Plum Washi, layered paper is Making Memories Coastline Collection. Sentiment is Doodlebug in Memento Tuxedo Black.

A Washi Thanks

Standard

So, just like she introduced me to card making and Operation Write Home, Leslie / The Crooked Stamper piqued my interest in regards to Washi tape. It’s fun and colorful and oh so easy to use. I tend to buy it when Pick Your Plum has it as their item of the day….

Today’s card was made using 3 sunshine bright colors of tape – yellow, pale orange and bright orange.

I love using this stuff because it looks fancy but is quick – I made 6 cards in less than 10 minutes, and that includes adhering cardfronts to bases, putting my OWH labels on the back and tucking them in their envelopes. I varied the placement of the 3 strips of tape –

They’re bright and cheerful and are perfect thank you cards for Heroes to send back home.

Wausau Fleck cardstock, Pick Your Plum Washi, sentiment is Doodlebug in Memento Tuxedo Black.
