Washi and Paper Piecing

Standard

Today’s card uses a combination of Washi and Paper Piecing.

The card started with the Washi – I put the Washi in place and then stamped the sentiment. I decided that the bunch of balloons from the Hero Arts OWH Birthday set would work well in the open space. I then pulled DPs in colors that worked with the tape.

Wausau Fleck cardstock, Pick Your Plum Washi, My Mind’s Eye Best of Damask, Sentiment is Studio 112 in Memento Tuxedo Black.

The latest challenge is up at Shopping Our StashDollar or Bargain Bin find.

I’m a thrifty chick. I love finding things on sale and on clearance. Since when I make cards I like a stamped sentiment, I love the $1 stamps at all the bigger crafty type stores. My submission has elements of both –

The stamp is a $1 item. The blue cardstock came in a pack of 25 sheets and I got it for $1.99. The plaid paper? 59¢ for 25 sheets. La la la.

Giant Spiders found on Google Maps

Standard

Yup. That happened.

For the past 10 years on October 1st we’ve put an 8 foot inflatable purple spider on our lawn. It’s really the only holiday tradition we follow in regards to decorations. The spider stays up all month.

We added a black one last year.

Who would have thought – they were out when Google Maps updated their satellite view of our house and now they are there for the world to see.

I have to admit, I’m kinda bummed they didn’t make the streetview image of the house…
