SOS Challenge 90

Standard

Shopping Our Stash has their newest challenge up – #90 – Use your oldest designer paper.

I tied this into the Tuesday Tutorial on Operation Write HomeFocal Point Review.

I did a Pinwheel card but I tweaked it. Instead of using strips of paper, I simply used whole corners. The DP I used is about 7 years or so old. I bought it on sale with the intention of having it for my big kid to use with school projects.

Wausau Fleck cardstock, black from stash. DP from DCWV The Stack. Sentiment from TPC Studio Cupcakes in Memento Black. Squiggles from Doodlebug set in Distress Inks Barn Door, Wild Honey, Peeled Paint and Faded Jeans.

I feel like it needs something else, but I can’t figure what that is at the moment.

  1. Hi Kara! I love how you used the same plaid but in different colors on this. Placement of the sentiment right in the center forces the eye right to it. I see your comment that you feel it needs something else but I am wondering if it could be a case where taking something out will do the trick. The curly stamp is cute and you coordinated it perfectly to the papers but I’m wondering if maybe making the strip plain black and maybe adding 3 brads, eyelets (or some sort of coordinated bling) on it in the lower right would keep the design nicely weighted at the bottom but give the focal point a little less competition and result is a very CAS design.

I am so excited to have you playing along with the Bootcamp and sharing your cards with everyone… thank you!

  2. I like that the papers don’t meet in the middle. I like the “off-ness” of their placement.

I agree with Paula. I was thinking you might want to add black ribbon, but removing the competing bottom border might do the trick better.

Thanks for joining us at Shopping Our Stash!
