Operation Write Home has a new Sandy Allnock tutorial up right now – coloring night scenes.
Here’s my effort – it’s the image only – it will go on a card for next winter for OWH.
I used my Spectrum Noir markers and I have to add that this is the first time I used them for anything other than coloring in a solid color on a stamped image. My shading is off and the grey that I used on the brown of the trunk lightened the color instead of shading it. Still, not something that I’m ashamed of…
I stamped on a piece of Strathmore 140 pound watercolor paper and was pleased with the “non-bleediness” of the markers. Stamp is from a Stampin’Up set that I got at a thrift yesterday and includes four season themed stained glass images.
Spectrum Noir colors are pictured below –
(BTW, I store my Spectrum Noir like this.)
Shopping Our Stash has a new challenge up – Challenge 76: Best Deal Ever or I had to buy it, it was on SALE!.
I’m a bargain shopper – I do not like to pay retail. I love the stores that carry previous season merchandise at a tremendous discount. At one of my favorite places, I happened upon a paper craft stock-up – they had packs of 8.5″ x 11″ and 12″ x 12″ for amazing prices. I found a pack of Handmade paper in a Bordeaux Crocodile. 25 sheets of embossed paper for $1.99. Um, yes please. Even if I only used 1 or 2 sheets, I was still way ahead.
Of course, once I got it home I was like “what am I going to do with this paper?”. Fortunately, within a couple of months, I discovered Operation Write Home. Voila, I have created a Valentine’s Day card.
DCWV Silky Smooth Cardstock in grey. Wausau Fleck cardstock for border and sentiment. ANW Crestwood embossed paper for hearts. Sizzix Sizzlit Heart. Sentiment and border from TPC Hugs and Kisses Set in Memento Tuxedo Black.
**This also falls under the Our Daily Bread November Challenge – use a rarely used tool or technique – this is the first time I’ve used the paper and I rarely use the Heart Sizzlit.
**Another card for the Midweek Throwdown – Valentine’s Day as well.
