As noted previously, I’ve recently started making cards for Operation Write Home. I’ve owned all kinds of scrapbooking and card making materials for years while never actually scrapbooking or making cards. This stuff was used occasionally in the completion of school projects for the kids and in the creation of ACEOs for the Etsy shop. Now that I’m using it all on a daily basis, I’m acquiring more supplies to help create a variety of cards. I’ve never been a stamper but sometimes a stamped image or sentiment is the thing that a card needs to make it complete.
As I have a hard time paying retail for anything, I’ve been looking around at all the various stores that sell thing stuff at a discount. Found this amazing set of alphabet stamps at a local shop.
From Prima, the set reminds me of my ransom die cut set from Sizzix. I liked the idea of using these letters to create my own sentiments.
I’ve started with Hello and Thank You.
These are what they look like as stamped images. I take these and color in parts of the letter/s and then build the card based on the color I’ve chosen.
Here are a couple of “Hello”s that I’ve finished –
and some “Thank You”s –
Wausau Fleck cardstock, various printed papers – some DCWV, embellishments from Jolee’s, brad washers cut with Sizzix, Recollections brads, embroidery floss, vintage button.
I like how I can mass produce cards using this method while at the same time making each card a one of a kind. I’m in search of a darker black ink today. I’d like a crisp and bright initial stamp. **UPDATED** – Got it – Memento ink pad in Tuxedo Black. Beautiful crisp stamped image.
