The Moody Blues – The Story in Your Eyes

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post – I love the Moody Blues. The Story in Your Eyes is one of my favorite songs. One thing that drives me crazy – Justin always seems to start this song off on a different tempo when performing it live. It reminds me of the scene in That Thing You Do when Guy speeds up the song and Jimmy is completely bumfuzzled by it.

The Moody Blues – The Voice

I’ve seen the Moody Blues in concert more times than I can count. Saw them as recently as this year and they still put on an amazing show.

The Voice was on Long Distance Voyager, an album that came out in 1981. Loved the lyrics so much that I used a quote from it on my Senior Yearbook page in 1987.

OWH Sketch Challenge 144

The latest sketch challenge is up at Operation Write Home – #144.

Here’s my take –

Oh look, the center paper is crooked. I may try to fix it. Depends how hard the Hurricane Sandy winds blow…

Background is DCWV Silky Smooth Neutrals Stack, Sentiment is layered on DCWV Cardstock Matstack Neutrals. Sentiment is from TPC Studio  Coffee Cafe Set in Inkadinkado Coffee Bean. Patterned papers are no ID from a thrift store stash.

INXS – Mediate

As I’m in the DC area and we have the joy that is Hurricane Sandy coming to pay a visit, I’m gonna schedule a few posts in advance so that I can maintain my daily postings.

As a girl who was a teen in the 1980’s, INXS were one of my favorite bands. Michael Hutchence was an amazing performer – truly a great frontman. Their song Need You Tonight had Mediate tied to it but radio stations rarely played the two together. I loved the video for Mediate. Now you can, too.

The Let’s Pretend This Never Happened Book Trailer

I was on Twitter this morning and saw Amanda Palmer tweeting about a show she did in Manchester. Here is her PSA on concert attendance – “PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT TO EVERYBODY ATTENDING MARATHON ROCK & ROLL SHOWS: DO NOT FORGET TO EAT & HYDRATE. OR YOU MIGHT FAINT. THE END“.

This got me thinking about how much I enjoyed her appearance in the book trailer for “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” by Jenny Lawson / The Bloggess. I then realized that I never posted this video here. That of course, is because at the time, I was lucky if I put up one post a month.

Ladies and gentlemen – enjoy.

Moxie Fab World Stitching Sewing Challenge

Moxie Fab World has a stitching / sewing challenge up today. Create a paper crafted item that uses stitching and or sewing in an innovative way.

Here’s my submission –

I stitched the balloon strings. The first one on the left is kinda wonky, but that’s because this challenge broke my sewing machine and by the time I got it fixed an hour later, I just wanted to be done with the sewing part…

Wausau Fleck cardstock, scrap paper for balloons – cut with a Circle Sizzlit, monster from Recollections My Little Monsters Set, Sentiment from TPC Studio Hugs & Kisses Set, both stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Friendship

Operation Write Home‘s Midweek Throwdown this week is to make a Friendship Card.

Here’s my take –

Wausau Fleck Cardstock. Background paper is no ID from many years ago. Stamped sentiment is built from a Prima alphabet set stamped in Memento Tuxedo. Colored with Stampin Up Pencils. Bling is TPC Studio Christmas Cheer Set.

Moxie Fab World Journaling Tag Challenge

Moxie Fab World has a Journaling tag challenge up today. Create a paper crafted item that uses a journaling tag in an innovative way.

I’m not sure that this counts as innovative but here’s my submission –

Chevron and polka dot papers are Making Memories Boho Chic Olivia. Tag is combination scrap black cardstock and Wausau Fleck. Journal lines are from the Autumn Leaves Stitched Journaling Panels and the sentiment is from the TPC Studios Hugs and Kisses set. Brads are Recollections, washers are Wausau Fleck. Organza Ribbon.

(This also counts toward my Kara uses a 6×6 pack of paper to make cards. Here’s the first post in this series,  the second, the third, the fourth and the fifth. This card puts me at 32.)

OWH Reverse Iris Tutorial

Operation Write Home put up a new tutorial yesterday – Reverse Iris Folding.

I decided to try with some paper that I have that I’m not super fond of – the colors are fun, but the patterns leave a bit to be desired. I like that you use fairly big pieces of paper for this so it’s a good way to “get rid of” stuff you don’t see yourself using otherwise.

The paper is all from a stack that was purchased coverless at a thrift so I’m not sure who made it. Sentiment is Hero Arts Happy Birthday OWH set, cupcake is popped on with dimensional foam and is from the TPC Studio Cupcakes set. Colored with Spectrum Noir EB1 and Stampin Up Pencils.

The colorway is very sweet – vanilla, chocolate, raspberry and butterscotch. Perfect for a birthday greeting.
